Hi Eric sorry I have not responded lately it is not that I do not appreciate your work or offers, it is just that I am busy.

I am also still on version 16 Mac and have not updated and not at all impressed with the ArchiCAD sale and support team here in Australia and issues with the the Mac OS and problem library parts that do not work with the later versions of the Mac OS.

I do appreciate your help and support.

Thanks

John – I am glad to know that you are busy – hopefully with projects! Re holding off on upgrades, I know it is a balancing act, since each upgrade requires some adjustment and learning to benefit from, as well as cost. However, the changes from AC16 to AC20 are huge time-savers and I feel that they are well worth the cost and any time spent learning new methods. Let me know if there is any way I can help you with this process, when the time is right.

Do you have tutorials for AC 20 & 21 MEP, and master templates. I have just renewed Archiplus and purchased MEP. I need to get up to speed quickly.

I look forward to your reply

    Hi David –

I have not created any tutorials for the MEP add-on to ArchiCAD. I have some basic familiarity with it from years ago, when I was a reseller and had a copy to work with, however I haven’t looked at it in recent years. From what I understand, it hasn’t changed much, except perhaps for the sophistication in terms of clash detection. I can probably help you with some of your questions during an ArchiCAD Coaching Program call, but am not planning to create a separate course for MEP at this point.

Re MasterTemplate, there are a bunch of tutorials for the product in the member area of the MasterTemplate website actemplate.com. In addition, I created the ArchiCAD Templates and Office Standards Course last year for the Masters of ArchiCAD Training Series; this goes over the concept and usage of templates, as well as studying some of the innovations and key features of the best publicly available templates. You can enroll in the course using this link:

Pavan – I’m glad to know that you are watching some of my tutorials. I don’t have any specific advice about how to become a BIM Modeler, other than to “always keep learning” and to try to connect with others who are doing what you want to do.

Hi Eric,

I have an eptar reinforcement add on which was procured for Archicad version 20. Would you have any tutorials that could guide me on using eptar reinforcement add on. I also understand that this is only required by Structural Engineers but would be nice to try on preliminary construction drawings in advance before the Structural Engineer checks the drawings.

Thank you.

    Eric Bobrow - January 17, 2018

Hi Cyril – I have not used the eptar reinforcement add-on so I cannot create any tutorials for it. If there is enough interest, I would consider learning more about it, but as far as I can recall, you are the first person who has asked me about this.

Hello
I would like to ask if one purchases the course, would you grant a student license for the Archicad software?
Best regards

    Eric Bobrow - April 22, 2019

Jeannot – Unfortunately I do not have any ability to grant people ARCHICAD student licenses, that is up to Graphisoft.
I think that they require proof of student status from a recognized educational institution.

ERIC WAS THE ONLY ONE WILLING OR ABLE TO ANSWER A SIMPLE QUESTION ABOUT ARCHICAD ROTATING LETTERING 90 DEGREES AFTER CORRECTLY DISPLAYING AS DESIRED. YOU KNOW HOW THESE THINGS SEEM TO HAPPEN, JUST WHEN YOU ARE COMPLETING A DEADLINE AND YOU DO NOT HAVE DAYS OF RESEARCH OR CONTACTS TO FIND AN ANSWER.

IT JUST SEEMS ARCHICAD USERS ARE IN SUCH DEMAND THAT ARCHICAD CAN NOT EVEN KEEP EXPERIENCED USERS EMPLOYED TO ANSWER SIMPLE QUESTIONS.

I am an architect in Taiwan. I am Lai Chaojun. I have been using ArchiCAD as a tool for my architect practice for nearly 20 years. I also bought your product and it is very helpful for me to learn ArchiCAD. Now I want to help local professionals who need to learn ArchiCAD, because I think ArchiCAD is easier to learn and powerful than Revit. However, your textbooks are in English and are not easy for Taiwanese or Chinese to understand. Therefore, as long as you agree, I can translate them into Chinese and provide a good learning tool for Chinese, Taiwan, China and other Chinese regions. Finally, thank you, At the same time, can you give your opinion on the above cooperation proposal?

Lai Chaojun – Thank you for your interest in sharing my ARCHICAD resources in Chinese. I will contact you via email so we can discuss how this might work. I have done some similar things for Spanish and German language users.

Eric,
Wow what a year it has been. I’ve been very busy and frustrated because of a couple hang up’s learning Archicad. But with one word yesterday on your webinar, “layers”, you brightened the path. I hope to get winged off of AutoCad and work fully on Archicad. You have soo many video’s or You tubes, and live webinars to help. There are many other “google search” people out there, but you are the “MASTER”…!!
Thank You

Hello again Eric

I retired 2 years ago after some years with AC from ver 7 to ver 21.
When the newest update for mac – iOS was released autum 2019, I
upgraded to this version knowing my AC was a 64 bit system.
It was not a lucky combination – my AC 21 is not very cooperative…
Do you know if there is some “quick fix” to make my AC “normal” again..?

Kind regards
Steinar Thalberg, Norway

Steinar – I don’t have any specific guidance for you to make your ARCHICAD work normally, other than the basics: make sure you download and install all hotfixes/updates for the application, and keep your OS up to date as well. You might also try to do a New and Reset for ARCHICAD to put it back into the form as shipped; you can do this from inside the program by using the standard File menu > New > New command while holding down a modifier key (I can’t recall if it’s Shift, Option, ALT or similar).
In general Graphisoft supports the current version of ARCHICAD (in this case, AC23) and the previous version (AC22) for all current operating systems; they may or may not support or update earlier versions such as your AC21 at this point. Have you contacted Graphisoft to ask for assistance? Another suggestion: post this question on ArchiCAD-Talk and/or the LinkedIn ARCHICAD group. Good luck! I hope you are able to get this working well, let me know how it goes.
