Hi, im struggling to control display of Trace References in layout. When I save a view with a particular trace reference that reference remains active when I change the view – despite haveing saved it with another reference. EG GF areas on GF ref, and FF area fills on GF ref.
Direction would be appreciated.
Thanks
Lengai – There are limitations in terms of how Trace References work. For most viewpoints (sections, elevations, details, worksheets, layouts) ArchiCAD will remember the latest reference when you return to it. However, when you’re looking at a plan view (a floor plan or ceiling plan etc.) it doesn’t differentiate based on which story you are on. This means that as you go from the ground floor to the upper story, it won’t change the reference; the only exceptions being the special story references such as “story below”, “story above” or “previous story” (which means the last story you were looking at).
Note that references can be made to viewpoints (a story or section etc. in the project map) or to Views (a story View or section View in the View Map). References based on viewpoints are “raw” and will show contents based on the current context (layers, model view options, etc.) while references based on Views will show the viewpoint with its own layer combination, MVO etc.
I hope this helps. If you would like further guidance, email me at support (at) bobrow.com.
